Who regulates us?

Quoteline Insurance Services Ltd is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Our FSA Register number is 304334.
The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. It requires us to give you this information. Please use this information to decide if our services are right for you.

Our Service

We act as an Independent Broker on your behalf and our service includes advising you on your insurance needs, arranging your insurance cover with insurers to meet your requirements and helping you with any ongoing changes you have to make. We will also assist with making a claim under your policy. We will ask some questions which will narrow down the selection of products of which we will provide details on, you will then need to make your own choice on how to proceed, or we may recommend a suitable product. This will establish the basis of your contract with Sureplan Insurance who you have appointed as your independent intermediary

Which Policies do we offer

We select policies from a wide range of insurers which include various different covers. Our breakdown policy is underwritten by Europ Assistance provided by HSBC. Our Legal Assistance and Claims management company is Impact Assist Ltd

Payment for Our Services

Payments are accepted by credit or debit card, and monthly direct debit finance facility. If you decide to arrange payment of your insurance through a finance credit plan you should read the full Terms and Conditions of the finance plan. You should not stop your monthly payments without first speaking to us.

Withheld documents

We may keep certain documents for example proof of no claims discount/bonus while we are awaiting payment of any outstanding premium or administration charges. We will ensure you have any documents you are required to have by law.

Our quotation will inform you of the total price to be paid, including any fees and charges separately from the premium, before your insurance arrangement is concluded. This will also be sent with your policy pack.

Instalment terms and condition

You understand and agree that were you have selected to pay your insurance premium via a payment plan, the deposit paid represents cover that has been afforded to you and that the whole of the annual premium has been paid to the insurance company by Sureplan Insurance and is funded by Finsure Premium Finance. Failure to make instalment payments may lead to cancellation of your policy.

Handling client money and/or insurer money

We collect and hold money on behalf of the insurer/policy provider and our risk transfer agreements mean that when you make a payment to us it is deemed that the payment is made directly to the insurer, the money is protected and held in a trust account and this means if we cease trading your payments are safe.

Cancellation of Policy

Cancellation within the first 14 days provided there has been no claim and you have written to us (recorded advise) within the 14 days to confirm cancellation, a charge will be made by your insurer for the time on cover plus £35.00 administration charge.

Cancellation after 14 days needs to be in writing and and accompanied with your current certificate of insurance and policy documents. In addition to premiums charged by your insurer for the period of cover, there will be an administration charge of £20.00 and if there was a discount given, the discount amount will also be deducted. We do not refund the commission paid to us for arranging the policy. No refunds are given on short period policies, legal expenses, breakdown cover and any fees as per our schedule of charges.

What you must tell us

All quotations are given on the basis of utmost good faith and you should provide us with correct and complete information for your policy to be valid. When you take out or renew a policy the information you supply to us is the basis of your cover and premium. If for any reason the information is incorrect please let us know immediately as this may change the conditions or possible invalidate your policy. All changes must be supplied by you either verbally or in writing, please remember tell us about any change immediately.

Complaints

It is our intention to provide you with a high level of customer service at all times. However, if, at any time you are dissatisfied with the service we provide, we have a formal complaints procedure. You should, therefore, take the following course of action:

In the first instance you should discuss your complaint with the member of staff with whom you have been dealing.

If you remain dissatisfied, please write to or telephone at the address and telephone number shown at the top of first page. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and advise you who is conducting the investigation into the matters which you have raised. We will provide a formal response within 20 working days from initial receipt of the complaint. If the complaint cannot be resolved within this timescale we will explain why and specify the likely timescale for resolution.

If we cannot settle your complaint, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. We will advise you if you are able to refer any complaint to the Financial Ombudsman.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)

We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.

Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit. For compulsory classes of insurance, insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim, without any upper limit.

Confidentiality

All personal information about our customers is treated as Private and Confidential.

We will only disclose the information we have about private individuals in the normal course of arranging and administering their insurance and will not disclose any information to any other parties without their written consent unless required by law or public interest.

We may use the information we hold about our customers to provide them with information about other products and services which we feel may be appropriate to them.

Under the Data Protection Act 1988, private customers have a right to see the personal information about them that we hold in our records. If you wish to exercise this right, or have any other related queries, you should write to Admin Manager at the above address.

Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register and Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud Register

Insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange Register operated by Database Services Ltd and the Motor Insurance Anti-Fraud Register compiled by the Association of British Insurers. The objective is to check information provided and to prevent fraudulent claims. Motor insurance details are also added to the Motor Insurance Database operated by the Motor Insurers’ Information Centre (MIIC) which has been formed to help identify uninsured drivers and may be accessed by the Police to help confirm who is insured to drive. In the event of an accident, this database may be used by Insurers, MIIC and the Motor Insurance Bureau to identify relevant policy information. Other insurance related databases may also be added in the future.
